About Me

Tired Mommy
We just had our third baby, Jett Rodes, in August so this Mommy is tired and may smell like spit-up from time to time. I run over to his daycare to feed him on breaks so the best time to get me is right after school or during your class period.

Philosophy for Teaching Regular Classes

If you are taking a Regular class, I expect that you are looking for English credit and to gain some basic skills.  Most of your work will be graded on completion (exept essays, tests, & quizzes) but I want your best effort.  I'm here to help you survive English class.

Philosophy for Teaching Honors Classes

If you've selected to take an Honors class, you should expect to work hard.  I'm preparing you for college and challenging you.  No whining.  You don't have to be here.  These are some of the most fun and stimulating classes so there is no room for a "slacker" attitude.

I live to teach...Shakespeare.  What can I say, Billy and I are "involved."  I like certain things about all classes but I tend to like Honors Juniors and Regular Sophmores the most.

How to get on my good side:

  • Be ready with supplies (pencil, paper, etc.)
  • Turn in your work
  • Be respectful of me, the room, each other, and yourself
  • Try
  • Communicate calmly and early

How to get on my bad side:
  • Touch or damage my belongings
  • Come into my "office" area without permission
  • Doing the opposite of my "good side" list

 Student Experiences

"Your class saved me $1100. Worth the $70 I think :D" --Cory Portner after getting his AP scores back (Class of 2009).

"You have made such a great impact on my life and if I do choose to get a teaching degree in English, it will be because of you.  You are able to connect with your students in a way taht makes them feel like humans..."--Shane Monroe (Class of 2008)

"Philosophy was the single best class I took in high school, and the project was the best thing I ever made!"--Dani Fortner (Class of 2007)

"Each and every day, I would look forward to your class because your charisma, enthusiasm, and great sense of humor never failed to brighten my day.  With your guidance, I have not only progressed as a student, a writer, and an amateur Shakespearean scholar, but feel I have evolved into a more positive and successful individual as well."--Chelsea Ashcraft (Class of 2007)
Personal Stats

I've been married for (gulp) ten years to a fellow English teacher.  We have three beautiful sons named Geffen Eliot (5), Archer Gray (2), Jett Rhodes (0). Before all that, I was a Kelso girl and worse--a cheerleader! Go Scots Go!
